General information about library vision and goals

Vision

The library goal is to become a renewable domain for all kinds of knowledge, sciences, and research. Also, works to provide internet services to facilitate learning purposes and research through library numerous sources to serve both students and general public.

Library Objectives

• Up to date sources and references for department faculty and students.
• Providing library services for department students and facilitate their access to latest research sources.
• Proving the comfortable study environment for study and research.
• Continuous cooperation and communication with the central library at the university.

Library Biography

The library in every school has special importance for both student and faculty because of the services provided there including not limited to thesis’s, dissertations, research articles, and other standards and manuals. Civil Engineering library was established in 1975 and has grown gradually with department development.

Library main job description

• Build a substantial library that has connection with all scientific discipline in department, to satisfy all library user’s needs.
• Storing and archiving library references according to adopted rules and standards to ensure quick recall of stored references.
• Cooperation with other libraries.
• Training and educating library users about how to use library sources.

Library Departments and administrative structure

The library employee in charge is responsible for all admirative work related to organizing, preparing, and archiving different library references such as books, theses, dissertations, and graduation projects. Some of the library employee jobs are

• Registering Books, and dissertation in library books.
• Use an easy method of archiving and reference numbering to enable quick recall of references and research articles.
• Providing faculty and students ID’s.
• Storing both theses and dissertations in a CD format classified for every school year.
• Automatic research where library user enters a key work into library system (Winisis), which enables library users to use this search engine locally and remotely.
• The library also receives civil engineering graduate students’ theses from University of Al-Mustansiriya.
• Books and theses loan program.

Library Guidelines

• Provide all types of reference for all library users.
• Organizing references using a standard and easy archiving system.
• Provide other services for library users such as internet, and printing services. Library users’ categories
• Undergraduate students, especially fourth year students.
• Graduate students (Ph.D., MSC, and Diploma)
• Faculty members.
• All university researchers and other researchers from different universities.
• Library loan system is only for university affiliated students or researchers. Copy service is provided for people from outside the university system.
• Dictionaries and standards are for internal loan only.
• Provide a periodic summary of library users.
