The Department of Civil Engineering at the University of Technology awarded a master's degree in (Road and Transportation Engineering) to the student Ansam Majid Khamis on 17/9/2024 for her thesis entitled:

"Evaluation of the Performance of Selected Parking Facilities in Baghdad City with the Aid of STARSIM Simulation Model"

Baghdad suffers from a noticeable shortage of parking spaces. The purpose of this study is to study parking facilities to identify their problems and provide a comprehensive solution for them. Four off-street parking facilities were surveyed to collect data for the STARSIM program, which is a simulation program. The results of Dream City Lot show that the gate delay reached 6.4 minutes and there were 18 cars in the waiting queue due to heavy traffic. The vehicles were parked where they were not supposed to be in the University of Technology parking lot, which was completely full. The main problems in the multi-storey sink parking lot are the opening in front of the parking lot and the narrow roads nearby. There are three vehicles in the queue and a delay of up to 2.8 minutes. For parking in Al-Khalani multi-storey parking, there are no vehicles in line at the parking gates, and the delay values ​​range from 2.3 to 5.6 seconds. The research also suggests solutions to enhance parking.
