The workshop titled:

And that was at exactly ten o’clock on Monday, corresponding to 6/19/2023, and in the central hall of the Civil Engineering Department. The workshop was opened with the national anthem, and then a recitation from the Holy Qur’an. Hassan Hamoudi Johnny greeted the honorable guests and attendees, and mentioned that the university today, represented by the Department of Civil Engineering, is always working to hold workshops and seminars that deal with problems and topics related to the specialization of the department and what is related to the topics and problems needed by the executive departments and in a way that serves the community, including today’s workshop that deals with an important topic to prepare a spatial database for studying The problem of earthquakes and the resulting devastating earthquakes struck the sisterly Syrian Arab Republic and neighboring Turkey, calling on everyone to benefit from the recommendations of the workshop in a manner commensurate with the importance of the subject Then followed by the speech of the Director of the Remote Sensing and GIS Research Unit, M. Muthanna Muhammad Al-Bayati, in which she talked about the goal of the workshop, which is to prepare a central database to follow up on earthquakes in Iraq and its surrounding areas, since earthquakes have a wide impact And reviewing the possibility of the Remote Sensing Research Unit in scientific and research cooperation with other institutions in providing solutions to problems and crises in the service of the public interest.
The workshop dealt with several lectures
- The first lecture on the use of geographic information systems in the analysis of spatial data (by the lecturer: M. Muthanna Muhammad Al-Bayati, Director of the Remote Sensing and GIS Research Unit
- The second lecture on the possible effects of earthquakes on dams, a case study on the Darbandikhan dam (by the lecturer: Dr. Haider Adnan Al-Bahadli / General Authority of Geological Survey)
- The third lecture on the catastrophic effects of the series of earthquakes on the agricultural sector in the Syrian Arab Republic (by the lecturer: Dr. Adnan Amiri / economist - Arab Center for the Studies of Arid Zones and Dry Lands (Clothing) the Syrian Arab Republic)
- The fourth lecture on the role of the moon and planets in the occurrence of earthquakes (Lecturer: Dr. Bassem Rushdi Hijab)
- The fifth lecture on the spatial analysis of the impact of ground movements on national security for the lecturer: (Dr. Aws Jamhour Hassan and Mr. Hussein Jassem Youssef / Ministry of Defense / General Directorate of Intelligence and Security / Directorate of Moot Intelligence
- The sixth lecture on seismic hazards in Turkey and their impact on the infrastructure in Iraq for the lecturer (Senior Chief Geologists, Shamel Jawad Abdullah / Ministry of Oil / Oil Exploration Company - Quality Control Department

The Health and Environmental Engineering Branch in the Civil Engineering Department held panel discussions for postgraduate master's students to discuss the course of the branch's students' research on Tuesday 5/23/2023 and in the discussion hall in the department
In the presence of the head of the department, Prof. Dr. Hassan Hamoudi Johnny, and Prof. Fares Hamoudi, the head of the branch, a number of the branch's professors and supervisors, and a number of postgraduate students in the department
Where the students reviewed their completed research and the obstacles they face for the purpose of seeking to address them, and presented valuable interventions by the professors to evaluate the course of the research by asking the important accurate scientific questions related to the research.

The Civil Engineering Department is holding a training course for the structural investigator in cooperation with the American Concrete Institute (ACI) for the period from 5/8/2023 to 6/5/2023. American Concrete (ACI) is valid for work inside and outside Iraq.

 

As part of the scientific activities conducted by the Civil Engineering Department, the Building Engineering and Project Management Branch in the department made a scientific visit to one of the investment projects, which is the Marina residential complex project in Al-Saydiyah area for students of the fourth stage / evening study from the Building Engineering and Project Management Branch on Saturday 05/13/2023 in the presence of Dr. Maan Nihad Al-Jamil and a number of students of the fourth stage - the evening study of the construction and project management branch, in order to learn about the methods of implementation of the various work items, deepen the applied and practical side, and develop the practical spirit to realize the information and knowledge that students receive from a theoretical point of view at the university. Where the faculty and students were received by Project management During this scientific tour, a full explanation was given by the teacher and the project management, and all the students’ questions were answered. The students interacted greatly and benefited from the information they received on the site, in addition to seeing the materials and techniques used in the project. Thanks were directed to the project management for providing the opportunity for our children Students to visit the project and see most of the implementation details
