Celebration Program and Recommendations of the Third International Conference of the Department of Building and Construction Engineering

 

 

A ceremony for the program and recommendations of the Third International Conference held in October in Egypt / Sharm El-Sheikh was held in the

Department of Building and Construction Engineering on Monday 27/11/2017.


The ceremony was attended by the President of the University, Dr. Amin Douai Thamer, Administrative Assistant Dr. Sami Abu Al-Nun, Scientific Assistant

Alaa Abdel-Hassan Attia, Head of Construction and Construction Engineering Department Dr. Riad Hassan Al-Anbari, Scientific Assistant, Dr. Mahmoud

Rashid and the administrative assistant Dr. Hassan Hamoudi Jouni, who reviewed the course and seminars of the conference. Also, Dr. Abdel Razzaq

Tarash presented the recommendations for the conference.


At the end of the ceremony, the President of the University honored the members of the Preparatory Committee for the conference with honorary certificate.

Symposium at the Highways and Bridges Engineering Branch under title “Cold Asphalt Emulsions”

The Highways and Bridges Engineering Branch, Building and Construction Engineering Department organized the scientific symposium under the title “Cold Asphalt Emulsions”. The symposium held on 23 February 2017 at the hall of Prof. Dr. Hussein Mohamed Hussein and under carful of university chair: Prof. Dr. Ameen Daway Thamer and department chair: Prof Dr. Rayadh Al-Anbari, The symposium chair is: Prof. Dr. Mohamed Yousif Fattah.

The aim of the symposium is to increase the scientific knowledge about the Cold Asphalt Emulsions such as properties, type and techniques for using such material in construction and maintenance of the roads.

The symposium was opened after listened to holy Quran and starting with welcome speech for university chair, department chair and symposium chair. They talk also about the importance of the symposium topics for the present time and for the future of Iraq.  

After that, series of presentations were presented based on the topics of each category as follows:

Asst. Prof. Dr. Hassan Hamoudi Johnny (Assistance of the department chair), lecture entitled (Properties of Mixtures Paving Cold Asphalt Emulsions).

Haitham Fadel Abdullah (Senior Engineer in the General Company for Minerals Industries), lecture entitled (Development of Asphalt Emulsions Polymeric Production).

prof. Dr. Shaker Faleh Albu Sultan (Faculty of Engineering, University of Karbala), lecture titled (Laboratory tests for asphalt mixes and its application of cold asphalt).

Farah Abdul Redha (Engineer, University staff), lecture entitled (Influence of asphalt emulsion as a tonic for the recovery properties of cured asphalt tiles).

Finally been honoured and give written thanks and appreciation to attend, participants and staff contributor to the scientific and Preparatory Committees of the symposium.

Workshop under the title “Sustainable Management of the Marshes” Organized by Water and Hydraulic Structures Engineering Branch

 

The Water and Hydraulic Structures Engineering Branch, Building and Construction Engineering Department in cooperation with the Iraqi Marshes and Wetlands Center organized the scientific workshop under the title “Sustainable Management of the Marshes”. The workshop held on Monday 20 February 2017 (9:30 O’clock) at the Hall of Prof. Dr. Hussein Mohamed Hussein and under carful of university chair: Prof. Dr. Ameen Daway Thamer and department chair: Prof Dr. Rayadh Al-Anbari, The workshop chair is: Asst. Prof. Dr. Mahmud Al-Khafaji.

The aim of this workshop is to increase the scientific knowledge about the wet lands in Iraq and to discuss the problems and obstacles that hinder the development of marsh and highlight towards sustainable management of the marshes.

Marshes are found in southern Iraq since 6500 years ago and existed within triangle region located among Maysan governorate north, Basra governorate south and Dhi Qar governorate west. The marsh covers an area ranging about (4000 km2) during arid climate and (1500-9000 km2) during spring climate and thus representing approximately 33% of the total area of ​​Iraq, and 34% of the area of ​​the sedimentary land of Iraq.

The workshop consist of four important categories, namely: (First category: Integrated management of land in Iraq. Second category: Management of water resources of the basin of the Euphrates River in southern Iraq. Third category: Monitoring techniques and hydraulic and environmental assessment. Fourth category:  Sustainable environmental management of the marshes.

The workshop was opened after listened to holy Quran and starting with welcome speech for university chair and department chair and they talk also about the importance of the workshop topics for the present time and for the future of Iraq.   

After that, series of presentations were presented based on the topics of each category as follows:

  • Samira Abdul Shabibi (Director General of the Marshes and Wetlands refresh center in Iraq) under the title (Integrated Management of Wetlands).
  • Prof. Dr. Hassanein Mohammed Hassan (Director of the office for scientific and engineering consulting in the Technological University) under the title (The role of the Technological University of the Advisory Office in the support and development of integrated management of the Iraqi Marshlands).
  • Prof. Dr. Thaer Sharif Khyoun (University Staff) under title (Management of water resources of the basin of the Euphrates River in southern Iraq).
  • Mekdad Khatib (Environmental Research Center in University of Technology) under title (Conceptual view to the sustainability of wetlands in the administration of Iraq).
  • Prof. Dr. Saleh Al-Khafaji (Head of Water and Hydraulic Structures Engineering Branch) under title (Mathematical model for the design of monitoring stations in the Iraqi Marshlands).
  • Amjad Nasser Mhassan (University Staff) under title (Using of Radar Techniques for Monitoring the Iraqi Marshes).
  • Sura Abdul Hamid (Marshes and Wetlands refresh center in Iraq) under title (Requirements of the Sustainable Management of the Marshes).

Finally been honoured and give written thanks and appreciation to attend, participants and staff contributor to the scientific and Preparatory Committees of the workshop.
