The Department of Civil Engineering at the University of Technology awarded a master’s degree in the field of (structural engineering) to the student Aws Bahaa Naji on 3/5/2024 for his thesis titled:
Lacquered concrete sills with normal and high strength reinforced with fiberglass reinforcement
Ductility of normal and high strength concrete beams reinforced with glass fiber reinforcement
The discussion committee consisted of:

The Department of Civil Engineering at the University of Technology, in cooperation with the Community Police of the Department of Relations and Media, organized an educational lecture on Monday, 3/4/2024, regarding negative phenomena in society, in the presence of the Scientific Assistant, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Youssef Fattah and a number of department professors and students.
In it, lecturers from the two divisions (Relations, Media, and Feminism), in collaboration with the Karrada detachments, presented to those present the concept of community policing and its preventive and curative role in addressing negative phenomena such as electronic blackmail and drugs, and knowledge of ways of prevention and protection to limit them, distributing at the same time explanatory leaflets bearing free lines for the authorities concerned with this matter. The matter in the Ministry of Interior, including the community police’s toll-free line (497) to enhance the culture of reporting among community members.

Course on occupational safety

Under the patronage of the Head of the Civil Engineering Department, Assistant Professor Dr. Ali Majeed Khudair, and the Administrative Assistant, Prof. Dr. Wael Shawky, supervised by the Director of Laboratories, Assistant Professor Dr. Mustafa Naeem, and the Director of the Quality Assurance Division, Assistant Professor Dr. Hisham Mohamed Jawad.
Among the courses on quality management that the department holds for laboratory staff, occupational safety committees, and new first-year students.
The department held a course on occupational safety in the days 4-5/3/2024. The course includes the emergency plan, firefighting, evacuation, and first aid in cases of accidents and disasters. It was prepared for by the Laboratory Quality Unit. The course was delivered by Professor Majid Ahmed Ali / Quality Consultant - International Chief Auditor. Dr. Salam Reda Aliwi, Chairman of the Department’s Health and Safety Committee
The course was attended by a number of employees and students of the department

The Department of Civil Engineering/Branch of Sanitary and Environmental Engineering held a workshop entitled
<< Recycling rubble in Iraq: reality and future vision >>
This took place at nine o’clock in the morning on Monday, March 4, 2024, in the conference hall of the Computer Engineering Department. The workshop was attended by a delegation from the Ministry of Environment, the Department of Roads and Bridges, a delegation from the General Municipalities Directorate, the Ministry of Construction, Housing, Municipalities, and Public Works, and a number of university teachers, employees, and students.
Prof. Dr. Muhammad Youssef Fattah, Scientific Assistant, gave a welcome speech on behalf of the distinguished President of the University, Professor Dr. Ahmed Muhammad Al-Ghaban, in which he welcomed the audience, in which he mentioned that the Department of Civil Engineering at the University of Technology is interested in holding seminars and workshops that contribute to developing solutions to environmental problems and supporting infrastructure. Recycling construction and demolition waste is an important process to preserve the environment and reduce pollution. It contributes to saving natural resources and reducing the use of raw materials, and reduces the amount of waste produced by the construction and demolition industry.
He welcomed the distinguished guests from the Ministry of Environment, university professors, and researchers, and wished the participants to benefit from the symposium’s outcomes to build our beloved Iraq.

The workshop included several lectures
•The first lecture: An overview of the work of the United Nations Environmental Program (UNEP) regarding recycling of rubble in Iraq / delivered by Hassan Berto/ Program Director of the Disasters and Conflicts Department at UNEP
•The second lecture: Projects implemented in Mosul / delivered by m. Rania Raad
•The third lecture: The projects implemented in Kirkuk and the experimental road / delivered by M. Anwar Saadoun / IOM Organization
•The fourth lecture: Recycling rubble: global experience and international specifications / delivered by M.M. Mustafa Mohamed Tayeb / University of Technology
•Fifth lecture: Listing the Iraqi standard specifications/standardization and quality control device
The results of studies and research at the University of Mosul in the field of debris recycling were discussed, as well as the results of technological studies and research in the field of debris recycling.
Finally, the discussion was opened between the attendees and the lecturers
The recommendations of the workshop will be formulated for the purpose of sending them to the relevant authorities to benefit from them
